Solving an Equation and Learning its Ruless

(Solving an Equation) The use of mathematics is universal. It is required in almost every field, in everyone’s day-to-day life.

Therefore, it becomes very important to learn some basic concepts that will help a person throughout their life.

 There are many concepts like Algebra, Geometry, Venn diagrams, etc. Solving an equation is a very easy and necessary part of mathematics.

 Almost in every math function, we are required to solve an equation. It is very necessary to learn how to solve an equation because it is used in real life too.

Before learning how to solve an equation, it is important to know what an equation is. An equation is for the most part made out of two statements isolated by a sign that shows their relationship.

Statements in an equation can be connected by equivalents to sign (=), less-than sign (<), more than sign (>), or a blend of these signs.

Settling a mathematical equation is by and large the system of simplifying an equation. The variable is left on one side, and all the other things are on the opposite side of the equation.

In other words, we take the things that are simple on one side and leave others on the other side. And by using some mathematical calculation, the answer can be achieved.

  • The following example can be considered to learn about the operation of the equation-

  • This is the equation given which includes variable x and some constants. And it needs to be simplified.

3x - 23 = x + 3

  • All the variables will be taken on one side and constants on another and the terms that will be transferred will get their signs changed. For example, - will become + and + will become -.

3x – x = 3 + 23

  • When all the similar items will be taken on one side, the mathematical calculation will be done. Here x will be subtracted from 3x and 23 will be added to 3 giving the following result.

2x = 26

  • Once both the sides have been simplified, the next step will be followed. 2 will be taken on the other side now and the multiplication sign will change into division.

x = 26/2

x = 13

Therefore, by following simple steps the equation was solved. By learning the basic concept of shifting similar terms on one side and then performing calculations, it gets easier to solve complex equations as well.

One just needs to be well aware of all the important conditions that need to be taken care of while solving an equation.

  • The accompanying rules give a strategy to utilize when tackling direct equations and make solving them easier and quicker-

  • Read the equation well before doing any operation and understand what is required to be done and think of the next step.
  • Update each side of the equation by eliminating brackets and joining like terms. In other words, removing unnecessary conditions and taking similar terms on one side.
  • Use addition and subtraction to separate the variable term on one side of the equation.
  • Use multiplication or division to address the variable.
  • After getting the answer, one should make sure that the answer fits well in the equation and satisfy it. It will also ensure that the calculations are done are correct.

Note: Fractions might be taken out by increasing each side of the equation by the common denominator.
